Dental Fillings

“Filling” is performed on teeth that have decayed due to various effects and have lost their function and structural integrity due to abrasion. In fillings, which are one of the aesthetic dentistry applications, the damaged tissues are removed from the tooth, it is aimed to restore the function of the tooth and to renew its appearance. The material used in the filling process is called “filling material”.

The treatment method called “filling” has been practiced in dentistry since the early times. With the development of technology over time, the materials used in the filling process have also improved. Today, a long-term and aesthetically efficient treatment can be applied with this procedure.

There are several different ways to determine whether a patient’s teeth are decayed. One of these is the visual examination method. The appearance of tooth decay is black or brown. Caries on the chewing surface of the tooth can be recognized by the color changes. However, it is not possible to recognize caries on the interfaces of the teeth in this way.

Caries on the invisible surfaces of the teeth can be detected by radiographic controls. In some cases, special dyes are also used by dentists to detect decay. Treatment of decayed, cracked, broken and worn teeth by filling is important for chewing function and aesthetics.
